Nestling in Fangfoss - a beautiful and peaceful village, 10 miles from York, at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds, Bricknell Cottages luxury accommodation is designed for your comfort and relaxation.
Bricknell Cottages are part of Pear Tree Farm, the title "Bricknell" coming from the herd name of the now dispersed world-renowned Holstein dairy herd. Pear Tree Farm, still a working farm, is now mostly arable, growing Winter Wheat, Winter and Spring Barley and occasionally Oilseed rape. We take great care of our soils and grow crops like Oil Radish, Mustard and Rye to use their roots to open up the soil and help prevent compaction. At the same time this helps by adding organic matter to the soil, this encourages worms which in turn assists the drainage. The fields nearest the cottages are grass and during the summer my neighbour’s herd of pedigree British Blonde beef cattle, along with new-born calves, can be seen grazing.
You will be staying in buildings luxuriously converted from the old milking parlour, hay barn, stable, granary, milk dairy and calf rearing houses in which many of the famous Bricknell cows were born and lived, which is why we have named our lovely cottages after their previous inhabitants! There are wonderful stories behind such names as Ruby's Retreat, Ethel's Escape, Bricknell Barn and Clover Leaf - why not come and stay and read all about them?
Times change and we are excited that our handsome buildings have been given a new lease of life, which we hope will be as fulfilling as their first. We hope to welcome you to Bricknell Cottages.
