Click to see a 360-degree virtual tourEthel’s Escape is a gorgeous three bedroom converted barn in the Yorkshire Wolds, just outside the City of York.

You know this is a special cottage the moment you walk through the door; a stunning farmhouse kitchen greets you featuring a huge bespoke wooden table, big enough to seat 12 people comfortably. The open plan lounge area has a real Mid-West ranch feel, with its chinked wooden wall and wood burning stove.

The large master bedroom continues the western theme with its unusual open plan bathroom, complete with saloon style swing doors. There’s also a chunky four poster in here with a sumptuous double bath at its foot. The remaining two bedrooms, a twin and double, are on the first floor and are also en suite. The twin beds can be made into a fabulous super-king if required - please let us know at the time of booking.

The stable door to the rear of the property leads out onto a private courtyard garden featuring a chipped granite and Indian stone patio – perfect for enjoying an al fresco lunch in the summer months.

Take the Hockney trail and visit some of the locations so synonymous with his work. The village of Kilham is the setting for the July/Winter Tunnel series of paintings with the trees at Thixendale inspiring the incredibly vibrant Three Trees at Thixendale series.
